Loved my experience!

I absolutely loved using Polymarket for the 'Oscar winner predictions' market! The platform was so easy to navigate, and I found the specific market I wanted right away. Depositing funds was super quick, and placing my bets was a breeze. Everything resolved perfectly, and I even made some profit! I will definitely be back to use it again for other events, it was an exciting experience!

Fun way to guess on stuff

So I tried out Polymarket to see if I could guess the 'Super Bowl winner' this year, mostly for kicks. My friend sent me a referral link, so I got some extra credit which was cool. The website was pretty easy to get the hang of, even for someone like me who doesn't do this kind of thing all the time. Putting money in and then taking it out when I actually won a bit was surprisingly simple. It felt legit, not sketchy like some other sites can be. Definitely a fun way to engage with big events.

Easy to use, quick trades

I traded on the 'Bitcoin price predictions' market. Setup was fast. Deposited funds easily. Placed my trade quickly. Withdrew winnings with no hassle. Good experience.

Good experience overall, some minor issues

I used Polymarket to trade on the '2024 Presidential Election winner' market last month. Signing up was straightforward, I used an invite link which gave me a small deposit bonus, that was a nice touch. Depositing money with USDC was quick, no complaints there. I connected my wallet easily enough. The interface for placing trades felt intuitive, though I did have a small hiccup initially understanding the 'yes' and 'no' contract pricing. I sent a support message about it and got a clear response within a few hours. The market resolved as expected, and withdrawing my winnings back to my wallet was also smooth. It took about a day for the funds to fully clear, which felt reasonable. Overall, a solid platform for these types of predictions.

Do I need to have a crypto wallet already to use Polymarket, or can I just deposit with a regular bank card?

B Ben Y. 1 month ago
You definitely need a crypto wallet. That's how you deposit and withdraw. They use USDC, so you'll need a wallet that supports that.

Yep, gotta connect a wallet. No direct bank card deposits as far as I know, it's all crypto-based. Get MetaMask or something similar ready.

Trying to decide between PredictIt and Polymarket for the upcoming election. Any thoughts on which is better?

K Kevin 1 month ago
Polymarket feels more decentralized and has a wider range of markets sometimes. PredictIt had those limits on how much you could win, which was a buzzkill.

M Mia 1 month ago
PredictIt felt a bit more regulated, which some people like. Polymarket is more crypto-focused. Depends on what you prefer. I like polymarket because of the crypto angle.

how do the prices on Polymarket actually work? like, who sets them and how do they change?

T Todd 1 month ago
It's like a stock market for predictions. The prices move based on how people are buying and selling. If lots of people think something will happen, its price goes up.

Pure supply and demand. If more people are buying 'yes' contracts for an event, the price of 'yes' goes up and 'no' goes down. The market determines the odds basically.

Can I actually get my money out if I win big on Polymarket, or is it a hassle?

T Tara Beaumont 1 month ago
Withdrawals were pretty straightforward for me. I linked my wallet and pulled out some USDC after the Super Bowl market closed. Took a day or two to settle.

i think it depends on your wallet setup. as long as you have a compatible crypto wallet it should be fine. they use USDC for payouts.

what if a market gets cancelled, like if an event is postponed indefinitely? do you get your money back?

C Colin Brooks 1 month ago
If a market is canceled, they usually refund all participants. I had one for a boxing match that got called off, and everyone got their initial investment back.

S Steve Z. 1 month ago
Yeah, they have policies for that. If the event doesn't happen, the market gets voided and you get your money back. It's in their rules somewhere.

Thinking of signing up, but wondering if there are any limits on how much you can trade or bet on a single market?

D David Whitfield 1 month ago
There are definitely trade limits, especially for bigger markets or certain types of contracts. It's not unlimited. I've hit them before on popular markets.

N Neil Z. 1 month ago
I think there are limits, yeah. It's not like you can put millions on one thing. They probably have caps to manage risk and liquidity. They're usually pretty high though for most users.

is polymarket allowed in like, New York? or are there state restrictions like some other prediction sites?

B Beth Brooks 1 month ago
US legality can be a bit murky for these platforms. I'm pretty sure it's not available everywhere. You'd need to check their site or maybe try to sign up to see if your state is restricted.

afaik, some states have issues. It's not like universally legal everywhere in the US for sure. Best to check their terms before you put any money in.

hey, was thinking of trying out polymarket for the election stuff. any new user bonuses or anything like that?

S Sophie K. 4 weeks ago
Yeah, if you use a referral link when you sign up, you usually get some kind of bonus, like a small cash credit to start with. Just gotta make sure you use the link.

They don't do regular promo codes, it's all referral links. Someone posted one in a thread a while back, might still be active. Look around for those 'invite a friend' things.
